Intermediate Theological Certificate

The second level of the Moore College Correspondence Course is the Intermediate Theological Certificate. Students take a further six modules of the course for this award - each of which are taught through a comprenhensive study guide and some background reading as well as with email support available from the Open Bible Institute office. The first four modules are compulsory. The fifth and sixth modules can be taken from a range of options.

The compulsory subjects are:

Old Testament 2
The History of Israel from Joshua onwards. A look at the major figues of Israel, including Samuel, Saul and David. [View syllabus]

New Testament 2
An introduction to New Testament history, working through Acts. [View syllabus]

Doctrine 2
An entire term on the centre of our faith, Jesus Christ. Who was He? What did He do? [View syllabus]

Romans
Romans opens up the central truths of the gospel. This book has changed many lives. Some of these lives have changed history. [View syllabus]

Option 1: Students choose from two church history options:

1. Early Church History
A look at the life of the early church, covering the cause and effects of the persecutions it suffered. An analysis of some of the heresies which beset it. [View syllabus]

2. Reformation Church History
The Reformation period was the time when the gospel was rediscovered. Learn how Christians found the freedom Christ brings. [View syllabus]

Option 2: Students choose one of the following four subjects:

1. Christian Ethics
The place of ethics in the Christian life, covering motives, moral standards, with a study of some contemporary ethical dilemmas. [View syllabus]

2. Promise to Fulfilment
Interpreting the Bible using a method grounded in biblical theology. [View syllabus]

3. Prayer Book
How do we respond to the great love of God? How have Christians responded when they meet together? What is the life of worship? [View syllabus]

4. Christian Worship
How do we respond to the great love of God? How have Christians responded when they meet together? What is the life of worship? [View syllabus]
